The Frances M. Maguire School of Nursing and Health Professions at Gwynedd Mercy University has been a local leader in nursing education for more than 60 years. We provide educational programs that produce nurses who bring compassion and clinical expertise to the patients who need it most.

All of our nursing programs are also accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board with full status.
Entry to Practice Degrees for Career Changers
If you’ve been working in another field and want to become a nurse, you’ve chosen the right partner. Gwynedd Mercy University has a reputation for producing excellent nurses who go on to become models for patient care and leadership in their workplaces.
We offer two programs for graduates of a bachelor’s degree in another field who want to make the change to a career caring for others. Both programs also establish a foundation for graduate- and doctoral-level education later in your career.
Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Second Degree Program)
The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) offers essential preparation for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in an accelerated 16-month format.
By earning your BSN as a second degree, you’ll earn the qualification today’s employers prefer for entry-level nurses and set the stage for master’s-level study in the future.

Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing
The Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DEMSN) is a 24-month program for ambitious career changers who know they want to stand out in the market—and lead in the profession.
Our DEMSN is one of a handful of programs in the nation that prepares students for a specialization along with initial licensure. Graduates will be prepared to pursue board certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL).

Online Health and Nursing Prerequisite Courses
If it’s been a while since you earned your first bachelor’s degree, or if you’re missing certain math and science courses, you’ll need to complete prerequisite classes before starting our ABSN or DEMSN programs.
You can bridge any gaps in your knowledge through convenient online study with GMercyU. We offer health prerequisite courses in topics such as anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and statistics.

Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program
Offered on our 160-acre campus in Gwynedd Valley, Pennsylvania, our four-year BSN program provides all the benefits of a traditional undergraduate college experience, including a rich campus life and 19 NCAA Division III athletic teams. It’s an excellent choice for recent high school graduates and transfer students.

Advanced Practice – Online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Post-MSN Certificates
Are you a nurse who already holds a BSN? We offer online Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs that can help prepare you to become a nurse practitioner in one of three areas: gerontology, pediatrics, or family nurse practitioner.
GMercyU also offers MSN graduates who want to qualify as nurse practitioners online Post-Graduate APRN Certificate programs in the same concentration areas.
