School Counseling Certification
For graduates of a master’s degree in counseling, education, or another related field. This 48-credit program equips you to support K-12 students with personal challenges, academic issues, and planning for the future. Graduates will be eligible to pursue certification as school counselors in Pennsylvania.*

The post-master’s school counseling certification program enrolls new students twice a year, each spring and fall.
Upcoming Start Dates:
- Fall 2024: August 26, 2024
- Spring 2025: January 13, 2025
Applicants for admission to the Post-Master’s School Counseling Certification program must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must have a master’s degree in counseling, education, or another related field.
- Submission of official transcripts from all academic institutions attended
- Earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Completion of the Gwynedd Mercy University Graduate Application
- Submission of two letters of recommendation
- A personal statement
- A current resume
Estimated 2024-2025 costs: $750 per credit hour
- School Counseling Certification ($36,000 for the complete 48-credit program)

Our program is designed to meet the licensure requirements of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
