Sisters of Mercy: A Tradition of Service

The Sisters of Mercy were founded in Dublin, Ireland during the 19th Century by Catherine McAuley, a pious young woman who used an inheritance she received to better the lives of the poor and establish an order of nuns dedicated to serving others. Today, about 4,000 Sisters of Mercy around the world work to ease the sufferings of poverty, illness, injustice, and a lack of education.
